Abstract and Abstract Floral MAY 5th -- 7th, 2026 10:00 a.m. -- 3:00 p.m. Daily
Join us for an inspiring workshop where you'll dive into the world of abstract floral oil painting. Explore the dynamic interplay of color, the contrast between flat fields and depth of field, and learn how to use rhythm and pattern to guide the viewer's eye. Discover the expressive power of line and the impact of strong, directional brushwork as you bring your vision to life. Working with two medium-sized canvases (24 x 24 to 36 x 36 inches), you'll experiment with these techniques to create captivating, one-of-a-kind pieces.
If you would like to use materials provided by Braitman Studio—including supports, brushes, Andy’s paints, and medium—there is an additional fee. This option is available at the bottom of the page. Click on “ANDY’S MATERIALS” choose your package, and add that to cart along with your workshop. If you decide to purchase this at the same time as your workshop, no further action is needed. Please purchase 3 weeks prior to your workshop so that we are able to get the needed supplies.
This workshop is designed to help painters get comfortable with the elements of design, drama, value, color, and eye movement needed to create a bold and distinctive visual statement. I like to use flowers as the rhythmic inspiration since they offer so much to explore—spacing, stem and leaf patterns, blossom and petal designs, vase shapes, water reflections, and more. It’s also a great opportunity to experiment with pure prismatic color.
